Ok so what do the majority of you use to maintain your collection? I have a carbon fiber brush, and this thing amzn.to/JLXnM0
Any other good suggestions, I prefer personal experience with the product. I'd like to try the "Spin-Clean" but kinda hesitant due to price and the obvious issue of destroying the label!
Thanks for the "diddly swag"
How do you like the carbon fiber brush? I've been thinking about getting one. I currently use and old discwasher brush with a homemade solution of distiller H2O, 91% rubbing alcohol and unscented dish soap. It gets a lot of grime and dust off but I know it leaves some stuff behind.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

It works extremely well, its perfect for just getting the surface dust off before a spin. This is the brush i have amzn.to/JUTeSc But I think I want to get one of these Zerostat guns to eliminate static amzn.to/J00jFN once again though the price is steep!
Just a lil' heads up for you guys that didnt get their hands on a copy of Gary Clark Jr's Record Store Day release. They have released a limited quantity on his website.

Yesterday in the mail I got my Jack White Blunderbuss vinyl, as well as the Sixteen Saltines 7" and a Live at Third Man Alabama Shakes 7". Gonna be a good weekend of listenin.
I made a decision that I'm only ever purchasing music in vinyl form now. I don't even have a turntable yet, but I'm already snapping up albums. Just ordered the deluxe edition of the new Baroness album on a pre-order (I kind of wanted the sick t-shirt), and plan on doing the same for other new releases. I've gotten the collector's itch.
That's pretty much what i've done. Once I started buying records from the bands I like for their new albums I pretty much stopped getting CDs (unless there's like a package deal where you get vinyl, cd, shirt, download, poster, etc.)
I don't really buy digital music unless I have a gift card. If there's something I want to check out I download it and if I like it I end up ordering the vinyl if it's available. Doing this with Alabama Shakes soon.
I'm not sure what it is really. I love the tangible album in my hand and looking at artwork and reading lyrics off inserts. I typically only purchase records now unless there's absolutely NO release on vinyl by a band.
Also, do most new releases on vinyl tend to come with an mp3 download as well? It seems like that is the case with a lot of these.
Most do. The lame ones don't. I think it makes sense to include it since you're paying much more (typically) for the vinyl than the download or CD so why not include it.
A little while back some bands would give CD copies in the vinyl instead of an MP3 download. When I bought a bunch of Wilco vinyls a while back they all came with CDs. They stopped doing that when bands realized it's cheaper to toss in a business card with a link instead of printing and re-packaging CDs.

There are plenty of things I download that I end up deleting because I don't like it. But I rationalize it to myself with "nah it's not stealing.....you just borrowed a CD from your friend Jim Internet and gave it back to him after a few days of listening and not liking it". I stopped buying CDs unless it was at a live show or through a band's website. Now my vinyl purchases are typically through bands themselves or a few shops/online sites.
My limited edition release from Steven Wilson from RSD was damaged in shipment! ARG! Granted it's only the sleeve, but it has a serious crease in the upper right corner. I emailed the shop I got it from but after a few back and forths (where they were very nice about tryin' to replace my copy) they discovered they did not have any copies leftover. Damn my OCD and needin' perfect copies of shit! Now I'll have to pay stupid eBay fees.
My other RSD releases arrived perfectly as well as my copy of Repeater's We Walk From Safety. Yummy.

Went to Wal Mart today to get some random things for around the house and found these things on some random shelf for 50 cents each. They were marked down a lot because I guess they had been on clearance for many weeks or something. They are absolutely perfect for 7" singles.

We here at Third Man are all long time fans and admirers of Beck. We couldn't be happier to announce that he will make his Third Man Records Blue Series debut on May 28/29, releasing the one-off single "I Just Started Hating Some People Today" b/w "Blue Randy". The record will be available day of release from our online store, iTunes, our storefront in Nashville and other finer retailers nationwide. There will be no pre-orders for this single.
Both tracks were recorded in 2011 while Beck was in Nashville working on new material for his long awaited next album. The songs spontaneously came together at the Third Man studio on Beck's final day in town.
Inspired by the title of "Blue Randy," an extremely limited run of 100 Tri Color 7-inches will be available beginning 10am on Saturday June 2nd at Randy’s Records at 157 East 900 South in Salt Lake City. An even scarcer scattering of 50 Tri Colors will be randomly inserted in mail orders for the single placed through our online store.

My hand-me-down stereo receiver recently went kaput, and I'm looking to get a new one. I don't have a ton of loose cash lying around, so I'm looking for something cheaper. Anything you guys would recommend?
