i came up with a brilliant idea for the non car non tent sides............ SHOWER CURTAINS!! two on each side, attached with the plastic shower curtain rings. there will be some overlap for extra customization as well as they can be tied back. they can also be moved easily to the other sides if necessary to block sun.
This is a brilliant idea! So much so I'm going to try it too...I just purchased a shower curtrain and plastic rings! We'll see how it goes!!

Just don't get this one
If I weren't going for family camp where i think it might scare the kiddies or at least prompt some weird looks, i'd totally get that one!
so far we have the old white butterfly one from my kiddo's last bathroom redux, and i got two at ross today for like $3 one is clear with red/white squares and one is white with blue vine/leaves. forgot the rings. duuh. geting some in the morning.
as for the ez up it rocks! now i know what all the fuss was about and i totally get why ometimes this board sounds like an ez up commercial. hehe.

I'm bringing a portable toilet. So I don't have to go in the nasty porta potties. I will admit it's much nicer to do it in your own tent. I've only done this at Roo in '07 and am planning on doing it again!
^^ me too! we found tiki banners for the sides and hibiscus paper lanterns and an inflatable flamingo and monkey lamps all at the dollar store!
Yep, I got the inflatables there too!!! But I got the banner that says "Paradise". It's too perfect. We have an RV, so I also got a door banner, plus a bunch of other streamers and stuff. I got coozies for my crew, cool lays for us, and plastic ones to give out to random strangers. And I got myself a little grass skirt...I got the bra too, but it just doesn't work (what did I expect for $1??), so I'm going to wear it with a cute bikini, and drink Malibu and Pineapples. I'm really, really excited!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

i thought about airflow with the shower curtains too, which is why there are two per 10ft side, giving some overlap. this should help with the rain - keeping it out - and also allow for some creative airflow. they can be pulled back (both) and tied when not needed for plenty of air, or one could be closed while one open, leaving 4ft on one side, or opposite sides while one each is closed. possibilities seemed infinite, to me. i'm heading outside to put two of them up right now - while we have a brief few minutes of sunshine in this rainy rainy week!
als there will only be two sides curtained. the tent side and car side will not.
Would I regret buying a walmart brand sun shelter/canopy thing? Do they really fall over and die that quickly?
I bought a Greatland (Target brand) on clearance last year for $19.99. It's a one-piece that unfolds like an accordion, similar to the EZ-Up brand. It's as sturdy as anything else I've seen out there and was a breeze to put up. I think you need to check the quality of the frame and make sure it's not one of those that comes with multiple, flimsy pieces to be sure, though.
If I did get a shelter, would I need to get one with guy-wires, to keep it up? or is that overkill?
sorry for the shameless bump, but I plan on buying it tomorrow, so if anyone has any opinions on the matter, now is a great time
It certainly can't hurt! Guy wires are just rope....even if it doesn't come with them, it's not that hard to fix it up on your own. I'd say it's pretty important to take precautions to stake it so that it stays down as well. You don't want it lifting off into space with the first wind gust!
No, haha, no I don't. So where would one buy an EZ up? If I were to go that route, instead of wal-mart?
If you have a Tent Pole's sporting goods store near buy, they have a decent deal on an ez-up style 10x10 shade canopy. I forgot what the brand is called that they carry, but we used one last year and it worked out fantastically.
I got mine at Walmart on sale for like $69.99 I think... I would reccomend buying one sooner then later. Last year I bought the ez-up but decided to wait on the screen attachment. I went back a week later, and EVERYTHING was sold out. I called around to like 12 Walmarts within acceptable driving distance and they were all sold out as well!

Walmart has a brand called First Up, which use the accordion style put up. They are quality 10x10 for $88 in store. Also if you go to Walmart.com, they have canopy string lights for the First Up brand canopy.
Those may work for any brand if they are just a 10x10 strand of canopy lights
