I have not. I dont usually eat the bars, but I got hungry and had my larabar as a snack already. So, I will need to find another thingy to put in my mouth. Right before I typed this a guy stopped by my office and said, dude you are always eating. I've only had two meals and three snacks so far today.
And for bfast I have a bowl of cereal before leaving the house and then a greek yogurt and a piece of fruit at the office if I dont go to the gym. If I go to the gym, I'll have a protein shake or an egg breakfast thingy with a bunch of veggies and then start the snacks by 10am.
She did. She's become a brand-new woman in this past year. Last May my grandfather died extremely unexpectedly and they were married when she was 19. Instead of her shutting down she embraced the fact that she was now able to make executive decisions for the first time in her life. So she just got back from a 3 week vacation to Europe, and she golfs all of the time, and she bought a new car. The list goes on.
She's the most amazing woman I've ever met. She's taught me everything I know about cooking and sewing. She kidnaps my kids on a weekly basis so she can spend time with them and give me a rest. She's the most amazing person I've ever met.
On the food note... I was going to make some caramel for popcorn for desert but I just couldn't bring myself to turn the stove on again tonight. So we ate a giant cookie pizza thing that my Grandma made for desert.

Damn. I guess no one's eaten in a month around here.
Last night, I took a few friends out to a Dining in the Dark event. For those unfamiliar, the diners are blindfolded and presented with multiple tasting courses, not knowing what they are going to be. This might be some folks worst nightmare, but being a food junkie who truly likes anything/everything, it was heavenly. 10 courses of farm fresh produce, meats & dairy, each with a drink pairing. Staggering. I'm so ready to do it again. Loved guessing each component and ingredient in a dish solely from flavor & texture. It's true what they say about how taking away one of your senses causing the others to heighten. These sorts of dinners are becoming quite trendy, with some restaurants doing solely Darkened Dining.
Anyways, tonight at home is slow-smoked, BBQ pork shoulder, local, grilled sweet corn & baked mac & cheese. G'nite all.

I made some FANTASTIC fried green tomatoes and fried okra a week or so ago that came from an urban greening initiative garden. Damn, trying to ride the line between foodie and fit is rough on the ass man. Fried green tomatoes giveth, squats and spinning taketh away.
Last night I had one of the best meals of my life. I found out that a restaurant I've been wanting to try forever has a 10 course tasting every Thursday. For $35pp you get 10 amazing courses, bigger portions than I thought too. The chef is so creative and I think this is his play time. He puts together ingredients you wouldn't think to but they turn out amazing.
1. Watermelon gazpacho that was unexpectedly (and delightfully) a little spicy 2. Fresh buffalo mozzarella with heirloom tomatoes, micro basil, and 12 yr balsamic 3. Goat cheese stuffed peppadew peppers with carmalized onions and a ginger honey sauce - this was a favorite 4. Seared scallop over mashed potatoes with demi glaze 5. Crispy avocado and asparagus with sweet chili sauce- another favorite 6. Salmon- don't remember much about it, I don't like seafood 7. Sweedish meatball and potatoes with ligonberry 8. some kind of cream cheese whipped cream with ouzi? fruit- really good and very different 9. The most amazing cheese plate with a brie type cheese and apricot marmalade that went perfect together 10. Chocolate flourless cake with mango sorbet
The food was just to die for, but also the anticipation of what was coming next was really exciting. I can't wait to go back. It's different every week.

A nasty country fried piece of meat from the SVCH dinner tray. All this time we've been thinking it is chicken. I just read the supper menu and it is pangasius, a shitty fish farmed in the nasty Mekong Delta. Gross.
Any one want to bring me some Chicken Tikka Masala? I have a hankering for it.

Homemade "Sunday Gravy" (home stewed Roma tomatoes, local peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, shallots, onions, garden fresh basil, Pecorino Romano cheese, and a habanero pepper for a bit of kick). Some local beef meatballs. Some local Bison Italian sausages. Some fresh roasted red pepper pasta. Ciabatta bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. Salad.
