a lot of good ones here..and here's a few more:
Pretty much any Wes Anderson film (esp. Rushmore & The Royal Tenenbaums) Wig In A Box; music of Hedwig and the angry Inch A Clockwork Orange Fantasia Superfly any film Ennio Morricone scored. Natural Born Killers
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
these are ALL spot on. Vanilla Sky and Garden State are especially up there for me. I have to say not only do I think the Into the Wild soundtrack is my favorite thing Eddie Vedder has ever done, but that I've never seen a soundtrack fit the movie it was for more perfectly. If you watch some of the special features Penn comments that he intentionally left space in the film for the songs to tell part of the story and message and Vedder did it soooo brilliantly.
Any Wes Anderson Any Quentin Tarantino Any Paul Thomas Anderson Any Cameron Crowe
High Fidelity Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Garden State 500 Days of Summer Into the Wild Moulin Rouge Lost In Translation Dazed and Confused Across the Universe
but my favorite soundtrack is Dead Man by Neil Young.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
