hesher is great. he IS nice in real life or at least seemed that way at comic con. he was laughing a lot and being really kind to the people from the audience who were asking questions. there were quite a few fans of his who are into his project (http://www.hitrecord.org/) and he seemed genuinely happy to be there.
the panel i saw him in was for the movie looper. bruce willis plays "older" him so they actually give JGL some face prosthetics in the movie. it looks like it will be a pretty rad action flick.

JGL is my current nerdy cute crush. He stands in honor with the likes of Edward Norton, Tobey Maguire, Jim Parsons, Ben Gibbard and Andrew Garfield. Guess I'll have to check out Hesher.
Wow, yeah... Hesher was really cool. He definitely showed some range with this one... quite the dynamic movie (and consequentially, a bit uneven, but that's neither here nor there). I thought the kid was great, that dude from The Office was really good, and I don't think I've ever liked Natalie Portman so much in a movie. Thumbs up from me.
finally got around to seeing bernie. obviously has some special meaning for us texas folk, but i really recommend it. i enjoyed the way it was shot and found it to be pretty funny.
for those who don't know the backstory (i think maybe fuzzy had posted about it before), bernie was a mortician in a small town in texas. EVERYONE loved him so much. he took up as a kind of companion for a nasty old widow in town. he ended up killing her, but no one wanted to convict him. all the bit characters in the town are hilarious.
I watched this yesterday. It was really entertaining. I just loved the people in the town. They had some lines that were just perfect.
went and saw celeste and jesse forever last night. another hipster love story but has a plot line so many of us can relate to...dating someone, "fine" with the breakup until they start seeing someone else and then everything goes to shiz. dug the music, had a few scenes which reminded me of garden state (will always love that movie).
also they carded me at the box office! hahahahaha whaaat whattt.

Well, she won't win a best actress award anytime soon, but I enjoy the personalities of her characters. So I guess she wrote this new one. I look forward to seeing it. I'll probably wait for the DVD release.

Went out to see both Lawless and Premium Rush yesterday. Neither film did anything to impress and Premium Rush was flat out weak on all fronts, there were so many gimmicky style choices that were laughable and somewhat baffling to me.
Lawless, though mostly a rehash of every other prohibition era booze runner story, at least had quality acting and built tension quite well
I saw The Imposter a couple nights ago and it's the best movie I've seen this year. My sister felt the same. Even after knowing the basic premise I had no idea where it was going and I felt so tense while watching. We found out about it from a paper we found on the floor of the MAX in Portland and I'm so glad I paged through those scummy pages. It's a documentary with a 95% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and I would suggest going in blind. If you need to know a bit about it then here: www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_imposter_2012/
"In the darkness hundreds of glowsticks streaked the air like tracer shots in war. Giant inflatables bounced over dozens of light sabers pointed skyward. Stuffed animals impaled on sticks danced above the hot crowds, puppeted by someone just given ecstasy by a friend made seconds before."
Finally got around to Warrior last night... I really enjoyed it, the performances were quite good across the board. Even if it was ultimately very predictable, and even though the way the MMA fights were presented more closely resembled Japanese pro wrestling, I thought that it was a fine film... enjoyed it as a whole a good bit better than the Fighter.
I have actually only seen Seven Samurai of those... never looked into too much Japanese cinema, but I've always heard he was one of the greats. I'll have to look into more of them.
Has anyone seen The Master yet? I'm dying to see it but it's not in the theaters near me yet. Every theater near me is playing 2016: Obama's America though, and WTH is Glenn Beck's Unelectable II Live that's playing at the Regal Hollywood 20 here in Greenville? UGH!

I have not, but the reviews for it are outstanding aside from the one critic who felt they should have indicted Scientology more (wtf?).
I'm on a Wes Anderson kick at the moment. I just love his movies.
I have watched for the first time Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, & The Darjeeling Limited over the last few days. Will watch Bottle Rocket next and then rewatch The Royal Tenenbaums again since it has been 10 years since I've seen it. I can safely say I have seen Fantastic Mr. Fox over 100 times since my kids (& myself) fell in love with it last summer & it has been on repeat play ever since. I can't wait until Moonrise Kingdom comes out on dvd since I couldn't make it to the theater to see it.
