saw it xmas day with my mom and gran. i'm a huge musical fan, so i really enjoyed it but they were over it about 2/3rds of the way through. my gran asked (in a voice i'm sure the whole theater heard) HOW MUCH LONGER IS IT? lol.

Did anybody see Cloud Atlas? We talked about going but the length made it difficult for us to find a good time to go, and the reviews seemed very blah, so we never ended up going. I'm wondering if it's worth the time.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Killer Joe. It's on our Netflix, but it's listed as "long wait" (we don't have streaming). I noticed last night it's available through directv. I may end up breaking down and getting it that way instead of waiting for Netflix to send it.
I saw Cloud Atlas and loved it (it will be in my top 10 of the year) but I knew leaving the theatre that it was really going to polarize audiences. I have already seen it atop many a worst of the year list (which is just ridiculous given what else came out this year) and also in a few top of the year as well.
I am WAY WAY behind on movies, but I saw The Hobbit on Friday. I feel a bit stupid for not knowing it was going to be broken up into several movies. It was good but not groundbreaking; probably because TLOTR movies are 10 years old now.
I also just watching Hugo for the first time last week. I adored it! Kind of mad at myself that I haven't seen it sooner.
It could be the official inforoo lending library copy. Reason number 184628 why I wish we all lived in a winery/Llama haven/organic farm/honeybee hive/free range chicken/Friday night movies projecting on the side of a barn/hula hooping/bonfire burning commune.

Django was incredible as expected, Tarantino is a genius.
The bag scene with Jonah Hill was the funniest thing he's ever done and one of the funniest scenes I've seen in a movie in a long while. Whole movie was actually really funny

I told my boyfriend that Jonah Hill is in it, and he didn't believe me.
That had to have been the best Sam Jackson performance I've seen in I don't know how long. Jamie Foxx was pretty good, you could tell Leonardo DiCaprio was having a blast with his role, Christoph Waltz was excellent as usual, and I really thought that for such a long movie, it had a fairly brisk pace. The cinematographic style was nice and it felt authentic in its influences, the usual great Tarantino soundtrack, and some of his best dialogue in years.

I broke open the 2 Criterion prints I received as gifts this Christmas (Repulsion and Rosemary's Baby) and had myself a wonderful Polanski double bill!
Rosemary's Baby is one of those truly great films of that era of Hollywood filmmaking IMO

I'm still waiting on the Tenant to get that sort of treatment. And, yes, Rosemary's Baby is definitely one of my top 10 movies of all time... gets better everytime I see it.
I got a Best Buy gift card from my step dad, so I used it on the Criterion 12 Angry Men... what a doozy.
For a bit, maybe, but then your kitty would most definitely eat you.
She only likes yogurt. No interest in any meats or anything. She doesnt even like wet food. I'm pretty sure it'd just be a taste test and then I'd get swatted under the enormous cat bed.

That mental image makes me feel better about life in general. Thank you
Caught Silver Linings the other day, liked it, didn't quite love it. Got me interested enough to begin reading the book and there are already some glaring differences. Quite intrigued to read it and then watch the movie again with those in mind.
i saw lincoln on sunday. i guess it is obviously impressive his character acting but i feel like it would be really predictable if he won for it IMO. i mean daniel day lewis was amazing but seriously why are these movies so freaking long?
i also am off of work this week for the holidays so i watched all three paradise lost movies on demand on HBO. very compelling, found myself yelling at the screen several times lol.
I saw Les Mis the other day. It's been a musical I've loved for 20 years and seen and listened to forever. I cant say I was disappointed with the movie. On the whole I loved it because I love the musical so much.
After thinking about it, thank god they cast actors that could sing as Eponine and Marius. I mean Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman were good for primarily film actors that dont make their living on their voices. Also I generally love Amanda Seyfried, but I've never really cared much for Cosette so I'm ignoring her.
EDIT: And Russell Crowe very nearly ruins the whole movie.
Producers Guild nominations are in. These are usually very close to the Oscar pics for Best pic.
Argo Beasts of the Southern Wild Django Unchained Les Miserables Life of Pi Lincoln Moonrise Kingdom Silver Linings Playbook Skyfall Zero Dark Thirty
Having seen six of these ten films, I have to say I'm very happy with these choices. Just saw Beasts of the Southern Wild and that might be my new favorite film of the year. What a fantastic film that was.

You're right and these seem likely. I don't think all of these deserve best of the year accolades but I know enough, from following these awards ceremonies over the years, to know that all the right films are never chosen.
I would be more or less ok if the Oscar ballot looked like this
