I'm holding out hope for a Kanye headlining spot personally...
In all seriousness, if any band could ever "earn" a headlining spot at the 'roo, it is My Morning Jacket and they have done more than enough. If you're going by overall popularity, yeah they might not be quite a big enough name just yet. But for everything they've done for the festival and for the heart and soul they put into their shows every year they play, they deserve a chance to play in front of that huge crowd and I guarantee they will win over every single person in attendance.
I don't know who else would be good for the other headlining spots. Obviously Zeppelin would be great, but I don't see that happening. Somebody like NIN or Smashing Pumpkins could be good. And The Dead or maybe Dave and Friends for the other night. I love the idea of giving Daft Punk the "Kanye slot" on the main stage late late night. You know they would actually deliver and it would be amazing.
