i didnt get the survey but signed up for the mailing list as well...
i will only be using the green stuff and will avoid centeroo spending. i will be bringing all my food and drinks, so the only money i plan on spending will take place at shakedown or the campgrounds. not against cards, i just wont be using one- but hey choice is a good thing so give the people a choice plus if it helps the vendors thats cool too.
yea i got them through payment plan so they send a message with a link to click that puts you into the email service. but when i put my email in to get the tix i clicked the thing that asked if you want to be on the mailing list or w/e.

I dont think it's gonna hurt anything at all. They aren't gonna get rid of cash. So it will be there for the people who want to use it, and the people who don't want to use it won't!

it did specifically say "cashless" in the survey and email. plus it asked questions about the card being the only acceptable form of payment
For the 2007 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, we are considering going "cashless."
so, yeah it'd be lame to not even have the option to use cash in centeroo
i think if they get enough negative feedback they won't go totally cashless....i think its a good idea for centeroo, getting a receipt would be essential, i would prolly get like $100 or so on one for the weekend, one less wad of cash to carry...

It looks like for the Food Vendors, the guar amt is 2K, but if the percentage of gross sales generates more than that is what they are resposible for. So it looks as if they may be moving to a better way to track the gross sales to make sure that they are getting teir due.

not too into the card thing...loosing that shit would be a problem you don't want to have to worry bout...ill just take my chances with green stuff ; )

Hubby and I weren't thrilled about the card thingy either. I hope they don't go totally cashless. I'd lose my head if it weren't screwed on...add in some Bonnaroo fun....and try to keep up with receipts? *falls over*

There is NO WAY that bonnaroo will only allow a swipe card to be used. I can't imagine what they would be thinking if they believed that they could get 80,000 people to get this taken care of before they left for the fest. It would be a mess and they are smart enough to know it. I am willing to bet my life this will be an optional program, if you want to use the swipe you can, if you use the swipe you have gone "cashless" which is why its worded as Bonnaroo going "cashless". This doesn't mean that it will be your only option to pay.
this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Where will we get these cards? Can you imagine the lines there? Do you honestly believe they're not going to accept our cash?

I am just guessing but I figure you would purchase your card before bonnaroo online. The card would then be mailed to you and possibly you would activate it, that activation would turn your CC authorization request into a deposit and the money would be moved from your card (given they can get it to you and activate it before the authorization drops, shortest is 7 days with Visa). I suppose it may just charge your card and take it off right away but that might limit the number of cards purchased before the fest.
I really don't think this is a terrible idea. It's an interesting idea and I really want to hear the details of the program. If you want to use cash you will still be able to, they won't take that option away from you.
Lines could move much faster if half the people in it only had to swipe a card thru a reader to pay instead of count money and hand it over then wait for the cashier to go back, type it in the register and walk back with your change.
plus, think how easy it is to be all f'd up and go around swiping your card not really realizing how much you were truly spending. probably see sales jump a bit if they implemented this.
Yea its like a cruise ship. Those card thingys really help you spend your cash..QUICK.

nope... i'm guessing the feedback wasn't as positive as they'd hoped, or maybe they just need more time to work out the kinks/details of such a huge operation...
I dont think the intent was to ever "replace cash" at 'roo....I think they just want to make some things easier to purchase. I would probably still just have cash until the whole thing is proven to be a good idea.
Yeah guys, chill out. I think they're just trying come up with new ways to make us happy and comfortable. They won't go NO CASH. I'm sure if they go through with this I (as well as most everyone else) will put 25-50 bones on a card just to test it out. If you try it and don't like it, let 'em know. They've been good about listening to us in the past...or at least acknowledging that they've read our emails. If you don't dig the idea, stick to cash and rest easy about that. Also I'm sure for security purchases there would be receipts given each time you load/use your card, just like making a deposit on a debit card, so if the system did crash and you kept up with your receipts you'd be all good. Nevertheless, just like everything else, this too will have pros and cons.
i just thought, what about any money you may have left on the card after the festival is over?
"...If you did not use all of the money on your card, you could redeem it at the end of the festival and any remaining money on the card would be refunded."
