OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG! i literally starting running around the house when i saw the schedule! there are hardly any major conflicts.
thursday i will not leave This Tent. wow.
friday. Umphrey's all the way, the Les Claypool vs. Raconteurs overlap kills me, but i will probably just ditch Claypool completely to get a good spot for the Raconteurs. My Morning Jacket vs. MSTRKRFT is also killer, but will go with My Morning Jacket. i could care less about tiesto (anyone with a laptop could throw a rave like him), and disco biscuits kind of hurts to.
saturday. i'll probably be at That Tent till after Against Me and then make my way over to the Which Stage. Gogol, Ben, Kanye. NICE! late night is a question mark for me right now.
sunday is a big question mark for me. i know i will go to Israel Vibration after that i don't know. i've been getting into Jakob Dylan's work with The Wallflowers but i think Robert Randolph is to hard to pass up. i definitely want to see Robert Plant.
those 4 hours of phil will be epic. i promise you that.
Really Becca? I do trust your opinion, and will definitely have to check out part of that set now, but 4 hours? That seems a bit excessive. MMJ should have received equal bearing, IMO, but maybe that's personal bias. And certainly PJ should have as well (not necessarily a full 4 hours, but more than just the 2), particularly when they are listed as the #1 band on the bill.
honestly, and im not just saying this - phils set at langerado was probably one of the best things I've ever seen. ever. and ive seen alot. so all i'm saying is that i have a feelign they are going to pull out all the stops at roo. If i were going to roo - I'd probably see some of sigur ros and alot of phil. but thats just me. plus i love jackie green. and i love MMJ alot. almost as much as i love phil .
Whoever scheduled Raconteurs, Swell Season and Les Claypool at the same time should be hung by the unmentionables.
That's my biggest conflict- I can live with floating around the rest. But WOW! What a great problem to have, eh?
And I feel like Thursday is VERY well stacked-- some of the hottest indie bands right now and closing with the Roo's cover bands of Led and Dead. A solid Thursday and a great way open.
!!! vs raconteurs suckssssss, and for some reason i wish tiesto was saturday, not friday
but sat. latenight has conflicts too....i bet you more than anything the coup, talib, lupe, and chali are all going to come out with eachother, and i wouldnt be suprised if kanye showed up too...
They are scheduled for 2 hours, 10:15-12:15. I assume that if they wanted to play later they could. Can anyone give any reason Bonnaroo would not let them play later? Could they not want them playing when Phil Lesh is starting his set?
To bump this question, are set-times just guidelines for bands with enough sway on the fest. Ex. If Tiesto wants to play till sunup, will he be stopped?

EDIT: I'm fountain Water, yipee!
i would say it's like erasable Pen. You write it in Pen, and no one can stop the artist from using the special eraser to extend their time line. But the artists know that they are being paid for a certian amount of time and there are 10's of thousands of people waiting for the acts that come after them... so they'll keep it pretty close.... the late nights don't really have any guidelines. Whenever their head falls off and they can't process information anymore i guess...

Well MMJ gets a late night which stage, but to me Phil is a rock legend, and his friends consist of several rock legends. My guess is that he will have several guests, and long songs. BTW I think the smites came from dead fans who do not like automatically being classified as Wookies.

Thursday - Grand Ole Party (Sucks to miss BDS, but GOP will be more fun)->MGMT->Battles->Vampire Weekend->Lez Zeppelin
Friday - I was hoping to not go into centeroo for a while, but Drive By Truckers ruined the chance of that and they're on a stage too, so SPF 45 here I come! DBT->T&S ->BREAK ->MIA->Chris Rock->BREAK->MMJ->End of Tiesto/Biscuits. Kinda disappointed to miss the superjam, but MMJ trumps all. I will be in the front after waiting throughout all of Metallica's set.
Sat - First half of Little Feat->Gogol Bordello->BREAK->Levon Helm->Jack/PJ->Phil & Friends->Maybe Ghostland, maybe.
I really am not happy about Saturday's conflicts. Too many. Esp Kanye & Jack / PJ which would not be an issue if JJ & PJ were not going to blend into one another. Latenight is a complete mess, but I think I'll stick with Phil all the way thru, even though I'll miss Sigur, the Hip Hop tent, Chromeo, and probably Ghostland. : (
Sunday - Looks like it's going to be all day at the What stage. Israel VIbration->YMSB->RP&AK->WSP

Thursday is going to pretty easy for me. MGMT, Lez, vamp and I might even stay by Porter Batiste set after Lez finishes. If I have nothing better to do ill just wander around the rest of the sets.
Friday- This has some matchups I wasn't wanting but Ill work around them. Starting with Umphreys then going to catch all Stephen Marley > Less Claypool > MIA / Willie (will be about half each show) > Chris Rock > Metallica > MMJ will be run to for a good spot > then to Tiesto.
Saturday will be my busiest day I think. Ill end up starting late but will be with Gogol then to Mastodon> Cat Power > BB King > Iron & Wine > Kanye / Jack > Pearl Jam > Phil Lesh > Sigur/ Lupe (It sucks he only has a 45 min set) > and ill probably end it out with Ghostland or Phil if sigur doesn't go longer than 3.
Sunday is luckily a relax day. Ill sleep in catch up some, then wake up and check out some of the early shows just playing it by ear. Ill then Pop by OAR > Plant/Krauss and then wait it out for Widespread.
Anyone find it odd that the State Radio is closing out the Other Tent over Bluegrass All-Stars on Friday?
not particularly... State Radio is a big name in small time bands...
also, BGAllstars are playing another set on saturday so.... that could be another reason...
I am assuming the All-Star set that is listed on Sat is a mistake. I think they meant to put Abigail Washburn in that slot which also has Bela Fleck. The set is also 75 min, which makes me believe that is Abigail.

Thursday: What Made Milwaukee Famous -> wander, check out Grand Ole Party -> MGMT, maybe wander a little -> Battles -> Vampire Weekend -> maybe a little Dark Star Orchestra or Porter Batiste Stoltz
Friday: Wander, check out The Fiery Furnaces -> Tegan & Sara -> Bluegrass Allstars, a little !!! -> The Raconteurs -> Rilo Kiley/Willie Nelson -> Chris Rock -> Metallica (for like five minutes) -> MMJ/Superjam
Saturday: Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings -> Gogol Bordello -> maybe a little B.B.King, Ben Folds -> Levon Helm -> Kanye West -> Pearl Jam -> Sigur Ros -> the end of Phil Lesh
Sunday: The Coup -> wander (check out Ladytron, Jakob Dylan, Robert Randolph's Revival) -> Acoustic Performance/Solomon Burke -> Plant and Krauss -> Death Cab -> Jake Shimabukuru
This will be my first Roo, so pardon my ignorance on this. But can someone tell me what the Sonic Stage is all about? I noticed a lot of the acts have slots scheduled there as well their "main" time slots. Will they just be shorter sets? Or special in some way-- like an acoustic set or with guests?
The Sonic Stage is a small, intimate stage where bands play short, often acoustic sets and you can get up real close. It's very informal and pretty cool. It's next to the CD store and bands often do signings straight after their Sonic Stage sets.
I have no idea how Broken Social Scene will even fit on the stage it's so tiny.

That was basically my reaction to seeing that Porter-Batiste-Stoltz got a four-hour slot. At first, I was like, "who?", so I checked out their website and they're pretty good, but I still think four hours is a bit much.
Wow... this could not have worked out more perfectly for me.
Thursday my ass will be parked at This Tent all night, then head over to some Lez to close it out.
Same thing Friday, except for some detours to check out a little Raconteurs and MIA action. Then MMJ late night, AWESOME.
Saturday I'll be at the Which stage early afternoon, This Tent late afternoon (Cat Power>Iron & Wine), then back for Kanye. PJ, Afromotive before Sigur Ros, finish it out with Chali 2Na.
Sunday I'll do whatever I want. Only act I'm bent on seeing is Rogue Wave. The ONLY killer conflict I have is Plant and Krauss v. BSS, and I just saw them 2 days ago. But they were so good I MIGHT need another full set. I'll probably half and half that one.
Amazing amazing amazing.

Thursday Back Door Slam MGMT Grupo Fantasma Battles Gonna split up the shows of: Vampire Weekend Lez Zeppelin Dark Star Orchestra
Friday Jose Gonzalez Minus The Bear The Raconteurs Chris Rock Metallica I'll try to make it to some My Morning Jacket but I definitely gotta check out the Superjam. I don't think Tiesto's only gonna go for 2 hours, I'm pretty sure he'll go til sunrise so I'll probably hit that too.
Saturday This may be the greatest day of music I ever see. If The Allman Brothers Band was on this list I think it would have to be.
Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings Against Me! Gogol Bordello Zappa Plays Zappa Iron and Wine Kanye West Pearl Jam Phil and Friends Sigur Ros maybe back to Phil and Friends
Sunday Robert Randolph's Revival Solomon Burke Broken Social Scene Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi's Soul Stew Revival really wanna see Robert Plant and Allison Krauss but I have no idea how that's gonna happen.
I think it's pretty swell. Of course, there are a few conflicts, but that is to be expected. My only problem with it is having Vampire Weekend set for a 1h15min set late night Thursday. I feel like Battles or even Grupo Fantasma would serve that slot better. And they'll probably barely fill an hour.
