Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...
who would have thought lez zeppelin would have a "headliner"-like spot on thursday...
wtf?
the biggest conflict to me is the biggest night of them all - Friday. MMJ vs Superjam vs Bisco? and there goes MSTRKRFT. i guess it'll be a bisco / tiesto afterparty till the sun comes up.
also, saturday - zpz, vs iron and wine vs levon helm? ugh. kanye got shafted too. jack johnson vs kanye. uh - im going to kanye. ill be in the waaaaaaay back for pj, apparantly.
saturday night starting with phil, moving to sigur ros, and then dancing with ghostland. sweet-ass.
sunday is okay. not sure im really keen on robert randolph mid-day. but whatever...
Thrusday : What Made Milwaukee Famous > Superdrag > Soul Rebels Brass Band > Nicole Adkins > The Felice Brothers > Extra Golden > Royal Bangs
Friday : DBT > Felice Brothers (sonic) > Swell Season > Rilo Kiley > Big Sam's Funky Nation > Anders Osborne > MMJ
Saturday : Two Gallants > Sharon Jones And The Dap Kings > Gogol Bordello > Cat Power > Levon Helm > Kanye West > Pearl Jam > Sigur Ros > Ghostland Observatory
Sunday : Trombone Shorty > Orchestra Baobab/ Robert Randolph > Aimee Mann/ Solomon Burke > Plant And Krauss > WSP
Overall really happy with the way things worked out.
Am I overlooking where The Whigs are scheduled? Were they canceled?
Unfortunately it appears the Pollstar glitch that showed the Whigs was just that, a glitch. They are playing elsewhere.
Ahhh that's too bad! Thanks for letting me know though.
For some reason Thursday night doesn't seem as exciting as last year, but I only know MGMT, Battles, Vampire Weekend, What Made Milwaukee Famous, and The Felice Brothers. They just don't seem to stack up against the monstrosities of Rodrigo y Gabriela, The National, Mute Math, Clutch, and Apollo Sunshine. I'm sure Battles and The Felice Brothers will be excellent, but from what I've seen from live videos of Vampire Weekend and MGMT, they seem a bit lackluster even if I enjoy both of their albums. Anyone have any other recommendations or am I underestimating how good these bands will be? Thursday '07 just set the entire weekend off perfectly and I feel like this year it won't be captured in quite the same way, but I guess I never assumed Rod y Gab and Clutch would be that powerful before I went to the festival (I already knew and loved The National and Mute Math beforehand), so maybe surprises await.

You obviously know a lot of something that I don't know considering I mentioned mostly completely different bands for Thursday. Which of the bands on your list are you raving mad excited to see and I should check out?
What's worth seeing before 6:00 on Sunday? I've seen Rogue Wave before and they were ok. I've seen OAR before and they're not my style. I know some Ladytron and Aimee Mann but not sure how they are live. I'm sure there are a lot of Robert Randolph fans here and that's a must-see for a lot of people. If there's anything thrilling though that I should look into, please recommend. I like those "hidden gems" (of course they're totally obvious to some people who are fans) to find at festivals, so it's not that I mind or anything right now that I don't know enough to be excited about early Sunday yet.

orchestra baobab is awesome..same with RR..but ill most likely be checking out jakob dylan.
if you aren't excited about anything early on sunday, relax at the camp all day sipping beer getting geared up for Plant > Panic (or whatever you want to see)
from sunday though, a lot of people are excited about Jakob Dylan, check BSS's sonic stage performance, Yonder Mtn is awesome, acoustic Phil and friends, chill in the NOLA cafe and catch DDBB
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
like for thurs the grid markers on the left say all the tents have music starting at noon, but when i look at the actual times for the artists it shows starting times between 5:45 and 8. I realize the times listed under the artist are the correct times but it's impossible to tell when i have conflicts because bands that line-up on the grids are sometimes a few hours different actually

I didn't even see BSS had a sonic stage performance!!! Yes! I wonder what that will be like. I love anything Kevin Drew does, so I'm sure it'll be amazing.
Thanks for the recs. I'd like to check out some other new bands earlier in the day, I just didn't know who those would be yet. I'm just not familiar with a lot of them and wouldn't want to miss out on something I'd be raving about until Roo next year while everyone else knew to see them.
I won't gripe about conflicts, just yet ( ), but this schedule is all screwy in the formatting. They really should have just left this up to JamBase. It's slow, buggy, and nothing lines up. Not to mention having to re-log in, over, and over.
Edit: Now it shuts down my whole browser and everything tied to it here at work everytime I try to print the damn thing!
