Tickets to the Dallas show are going on sale next weekend at $86 each + ticketmaster fees. Yall need to convince me thats it worth it. The venue is a standup only show also. I hadnt heard of him before the "big" announcement discussions and only have about 10 of his songs, but im downloading the discography. Is anyone else going to the Dallas show?

If there is any show out there you could go to for that price, it would have to be him. I'm sure you'll enjoy him...I'll be seeing him too for my first time in Knoxville, TN though.
what do people think about george porter jr having two dates on his web site calender. The 12th is with PBS but the 13th he is without the band. Could this be a superjam performance? I cant see him playing tom waits tunes, does anyone have ideas why he is listed solo, i doubt its for an acoustic sonic stage, i guess the New Orleans tent is the only other option besides superjam.

Go go go go go go go go go... Did that convince you? ;D
^Well to be fair what it actually says is that he will be on the New Orleans stage for A superjam. I am not sure that means THE superjam. However who knows that could be it as well.

There's only one superjam when it comes to Bonnaroo. There are many jams, and even some great jams, but only one superjam.

superjams are all around at bonnaroo and other festivals
while officially they only have one event entitled superjam, there are in fact many superjams, i think of a superjam as several members of different bands joining together
my guess is that this year we'll get the annual superjam which is looking like it may consist of hammett, claypool, hutz and who knows who else, hopefully waits
and it just makes complete sense for them to have a new orleans style superjam consisting of the area's best
you can kind of also consider phil lesh and friends to be somewhat of a superjam, sure its nearly all grateful dead music, maybe a cover or two thrown in there, but if you look at who plays in lesh and friends, obviously phil played with the dead, larry campbell has played with dylan, costello, emmylou harris, he's a regular performer in levon helm's midnight rambles and his wife is teresa williams who is listed in phil's acoustic set, steve molitz has played with particle, john molo has played with bruce hornsby, the other ones, fogerty, keller among several other bands, and of course jackie greene's solo stuff is very amazing for a 28 yr old who's only been playing guitar for 14 years, so that's why i'm considering that a superjam
raconteurs are sort of a superjam but not really, consisting of jack white of course and a cincinnati band called the greenhornes
no doubt about it that bb king will have some guests joining him
now i understand what is special about the official superjam, but as a musician myself and a fan of nearly all types of music thanks to bonnaroo, i just have to consider for myself that there are many superjams, jams of friends that may very rarely ever happen, at least in front of a live audience with crowds as big as at bonnaroo
you can probably also guess that umphreys and bisco may be joining forces again, as their tour was voted best tour at the jammys (string cheese should've won dammit)
levon helm will probably be a superjam of god only knows who
but the one superjam i'm looking forward to the most at bonnaroo is the bluegrass allstars, we are way way past due for an event to happen at bonnaroo as special as this one will be
you may not agree with all the things i've said here, but the fact is that at festivals like this you get bands who may be friends with others, bands that some musicians may not see all year, and they come together to give the fans something really special, but they also come together to play for themselves
all of the things i've said are one of the main reasons bonnaroo is the best festival in the country, its why i have and will continue to go back every year
hmm...what about a drummer? Hutz,Hammet,Claypool(maybe waits)
Did anyone else notice that Kenny Wollesen (session drummer and the percussionist who performed on Tom Waits' The Black Rider) is performing at roo with The Wood Brothers?

Eugene Hutz was supposed to co-star with Waits in the movie "Wristcutters" but ended up having to back out cuz of a tour. They did use his music though and the part of Eugene is based on him. That's some sort of connection.
Also, he's done stuff with Solomon Burke. He shared the stage with Eddie Vedder before (and Vedder covers some of his tunes). He was also in the movie "Coffee and Cigarettes which also had Jack White (although they shared no scenes).
* Ticketmaster is taking the next big leap in ticketing technology with Paperless Ticket™. * Fans will no longer have to stand in line to pick up tickets at will call. * Fans who ordered tickets can simply present venue door staff their credit card, along with a valid photo ID, and they'll be given a receipt and granted immediate access. * No tickets will ever exchange hands. * Paperless Ticket™ only is available through Ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone. * The entire process is quick, secure and simple. * Paperless Ticket™ was unveiled for Tom Waits' new "Glitter and Doom" Tour on May 7, 2008.
i don't know about anyone else, but i refuse even to get the print at home tickets.. theres just something about having that stub.
on a side note.. i wonder how much extra they'll charge for that, i mean, they already charge you to use your own paper and ink for the print at home.
edit: bolded Waits to be more clear about the meaning of the post
I don't know much about the Paper-less Ticket but, last time I went to see Waits , the louisville show was Will-Call tickets only. Where you had to show the credit card & a government ID
It was an attempt to keep ticket scalpers at bay. A very noble concept.
Applause for Mr Waits on trying to keep his fans from paying high ebay / stub-hub scalping prices.

i was curious about who played in the band for the plant and krauss album, here's who i found (aside from plant, krauss, t-bone burnett, and marc ribot):
riley baugus-banjo
jay bellerose-drums
norman blake-acoustic guitar-has played with tony rice, johnny cash and june carter, bob dylan, steve earle, kris kristofferson, ralph stanley, joan baez, nitty gritty dirt band
dennis crouch-acoustic bass
gregory liesz-pedal steel guitar
mike seeger-autoharp-has played with ry cooder
patrick warren-keyboards, pump organ, toy piano
i think joan baez would be an excellent addition, but at this point seems unlikely

Just so we're all on the same page, Solomon Burke and Plant & Krauss have both covered Waits songs on their albums. Doesn't mean much, but it does help to create a Waits-friendly atmosphere at Bonnaroo.

.
The only downside is that it kinda screws the legitimate fan who ends up with an extra ticket. It's like buying tickets through Priceline.

^^^^
been posted in this thread. thats basically what the thread is about lol. Thanks for the contribution tho. I really hope this rumor comes true. Hutz, Claypool, Hammett, and a drummer to be named would rock.
