I think the poll speaks for itself. I grew up as a huge fan of this band, and I've always believed that they were very talented. I'm sticking to my guns since I can still listen to and enjoy their entire discography today, but I'd like to know how everyone else feels about Duritz and the Crows. Talk amongst yourselves.
I said if noone else was playing. I like them a lot but they aren't a huge priority and I lost some of my affection for them when I found out the dreads were fake.

They are definitely one of the live bands that nobody expects to be that good... but get blown away by. That being said, if none of my absolute favorites were playing another stage at that time, i'd see them.
Saw them open for the Rolling Stones once....wasn't impressed. But it was their first major tour so maybe they were just having an off night ???....would give them another chance if there was no one else playing that I really wanted to see. I like their records well enough....just wasn't impressed with them live.....
I'm still surprised they haven't performed at roo yet. I think they'd be great. Could easily see them doing a set right around sundown - would be a nice segue into a headliner.
Just saw them last month for the first time - great set, including a cover of "Friend Of The Devil." I'm anxious for their new double CD(!) due in November. The new song "Come Around" that leaked is vintage Crows.

Just because music has achieved commercial success doesn't mean that it's like everything else that's ever achieved commercial success, nor does it mean that it's bad. (Obviously COunting Crows sounds nothing like Smash Mouth or Backstreet Boys). This quote from Dave Eggers has always summed it up perfectly for me:

But you're totally entitled to your opinion. I just don't agree with your logic.

I think they were never that good to begin with; however, I chose the "I think they are washed up and should stay at home category" because it goes best with my decision.
Honestly, though, I could see them as the "mainstream" band that plays the Which Stage like Franz Ferdinand.
Along with the John Butler Trio they are my favorite band. I have grown up listening to them and have learned to love them as artists. I have seen them live twice and they tend to stay away from all their mainstream sucesses, instead taking their songs and changing them around into versions that are often better than the originals. It would make me very happy if they played bonnaroo.

"August and Everything After" is a gem. The rest of their catalog is mediocre. I've never seen them, but I've heard bootlegs and could never decide if they were beautiful and imaginative live or a God-awful racket. As such, I voted 'maybe'.
