I'm listening to my personal favorite soundtrack of all-time, that of Lost in Translation, and I got to wondering what other great ones might be out there. I think they can be especially great because of your emotional attachment to the scenes the music accompanies, so what are the favorites?
I'd have to go with Lost in Translation, The Royal Tenenbaums (at least the actual music from the film, a few important tracks are left off the soundtrack) and probably (go ahead and laugh) 8 Mile. I firmly believe that Eminem is the best working lyricist, and I'd be happy to back that up...on another thread, for now let's stick to soundtracks.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? A Mighty Wind Spinal Tap UHF Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and Other Stuff Pi
But I guess this begs to be broken into smaller sections: soundtracks with new material from the film, soundtracks with new and old material related to the film, and film scores. Just a thought.

Oh... just thought of another one... Almost Famous... not just the 'official' soundtrack (which only has a dozen or so cuts), but every song that appears in the movie (something like 30-ish, IIRC).
I have quite a few soundtracks. So here's the ones I listen to regularly.
Garden State / The Last Kiss (K so Zach Braff has pretty good musical tastes. I bought a few albums based solely on these soundtracks) Amelie (the music just makes me smile and daydream of riding a scooter in Paris) Akira (Geinoh Yamashirogumi - this stuff is awesome) Moulin Rouge (can't wait to hear the Police sing Roxanne) Chicago (Cell Block Tango my fave) Princess Mononoke (Joe Hisaishi - nice orchestral work) Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex (Yokko Kanno - does a lot of really neat soundtracks that tend to be imitated, would love for her to score a US film.) City of Angels I haven't listened to this in a few years, but a nice soundtrack regardless.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
"Stealing? How could you?! Haven’t you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain What’s-his-name? We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn’t hear anybody laughin’, did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects. Where was I? Oh yeah -- stay out of my booze."

Eternal Sunshine... Dazed & Confused This is Spinal Tap The Life Aquatic (really any Wes Anderson film) Kill Bill 1&2 (same with Tarantino) The Wall (even though the album came out first, im countin it) Lords of Dogtown
I've actually gotten on kind of a soundtrack jag lately. Here are some I keep going back to (some have already been mentioned):
Twister Empire Records The Wall (I count it too!) The Faculty (obscure movie, great soundtrack, mostly remakes, but worth it just to hear Lanye sing ABITW PartII with Morello on guitar!) Spiderman II (music inspired by, not the score) MI:II (music from, not score) Phantom of the Opera The Crow
