FYI Kings of Leon's new cd is called, Because of The Times and it's going to be released on April 2nd. As for Wilco, in a recent concert Jeff Tweedy stated the new cd is called Sky Blue Sky and will be released on May 15th. KOL is a definite, as for Wilco we will have to wait for an official statement for that to be confirmed. In the meantime check out their Myspace page for a new song called, The Thanks I Get. I believe it's also on the solo Jeff Tweedy dvd that came out a lil' while back. Anyways these are definetly the two cd's I'm most pumped for in '07.
Ok, so I had high hopes for the new KOL and felt sort of let down on the first couple of listens. The first words that came to mind with a few of the heavier songs was "butt rock." There was prettiness, but the butt rock ruled. Anyway, I let it sink in a couple more times over some drive time and yeah...it's clicking. The butt rock moments have become endearing and a few of the tunes are stellar. I thought that the last one was a transition record, but it would definitely appear that this is another case of them trying to find their sound. There are U2 guitars, relatively tender balladry, the aforementioned butt rock ragers, and lots of other influences tossed into the stew.

I'm listening to it now, its enjoyable, but im not gonna judge it quite yet. Just grabbed the new modest mouse too, only listened to the first song though, but i've heard good things.

i have listened to it several times and loved most of it at first listen. Some of the tracks aren't clicking, but for the most part i think this is a huge step forward.

I think the new Kings of Leon is just damn impressive. It rocks hard but more importantly they seem to have REALLY matured since Aha Shake. "Ragoo", "Fans", "Arizona", "Knocked Up" are my favorites.
Well after a solid 10 listens I can confirm that new KOL is amazing. It's definetly different, but for the better. They seem to have more confidence on this album, fleshing out their sound a little more, experimenting and such. It took me a while to get into it but between this and Modest Mouse's new album, I've been rocking out constantly for a good solid week.

The more i listen to this album the more i like it. Definatly my favorite of 07' so far. I want to see these guys midafternoon, about the same slot as 05', i think they'd be awesome there again. I actually think Black Thumbnail and Camaro are just alright, but all the other songs are awesome. Super solid top to bottom.
The only song I don't really like is Charmer. I like the music, but the screaming just seems uncalled for and it throws me off. That's the only song I skip on the album.

My favorites are McFearless, On Call, and Knocked Up, so obviously a little different tastes, but im sure we can both agree on the quality of the album.

no doubt...it's all a matter of personal taste
I've been listening to it non-stop for 3 days...think it's time for something else soon
I'd have to agree the the new album is quite well done; however I could also do without the screaming, in Charmer.... On a side note, the new Modest Mouse is outstanding....
