Pearl Jam last night in Moline. My first time seeing them.
Holy fuck.
I was not prepared for a show of that magnitude. No Code in its entirety. A new song about Moline. Stone singing Mankind. 4 tracks from Yield. The band was into it. The crowd was into it. I have no words to describe it, and no voice left to say them anyway.

I don't think I said anything on here about the Power Trip show I saw. It was about at the beginning of September and it was seriously the most dangerous, most metal, and most Power Trip-ish show I could have ever imagined.
There is a new venue/gallery/event space in Atlanta called Mammal Gallery which is located in the heart of Downtown Atlanta. In case you don't know, the actual Downtown neighborhood of Atlanta pretty much becomes a ghost town at night, except for the homeless and street types. There are very few operating businesses and lots of old buildings and closed down shops. The Mammal Gallery right in the middle of no man's land and is part of recent push to revitalize the area. I was really excited to check out the new place, but boy, it is a rough area right now. There were freaking Harleys parked outside and people dressed way more metal than I ever expected. The inside has a basement like feel (much bigger though). Poor cooling and ventilation that hits you like a brick wall when you get inside. It has crappy unisex bathrooms. Just all around gritty.
I saw two terrible openers. The first one was some crappy hardcore band. The next one consisted of a bunch of Atlanta music scene vets (ex-Deerhunter, Wymyns Prysn, GG King) that played an atrocious brand of speed metal. In between bands, everybody would go outside and smoke cigarettes, drink beer, and chat or whatever. So, we are outside waiting for Power Trip to come on and this homeless dude was telling us jokes to try to get us to buy him beer from inside. We heard all this commotion and turned around to see a huge fight breaking out. It looked like several clicks were getting into a huge rumble. Eventually, the brawl gets smaller and the remaining fighters decide to take it down the street. A bunch of the crowd runs after them to watch the fight, while we see some local street people flanking from the other side of the street. They turn the corner out of sight and everything is quiet for a minute. Then all of a sudden, the whole mass people come running for their lives back toward the venue yelling, "Go inside! Gun! Ahhh!"
We go inside and everything seemed safe and then Power Trip takes the stage. It takes like they were trying to reassure us that everything was cool because they offered some free chicken wings at the bar. "Feel free to help yourself," he said. Nice dudes. And then they start playing and they totally rip. The pit was filled with some of the most over the top violence. Dudes were just throwing haymakers at each other. Faces covered in blood. Fucking gnarly. I kept a nice distance from it all and was in awe. What a really enjoyed about Power Trip was the pacing. You wouldn't know it from the full assault thrash of their records, but they got it together for the live show.

What a night of Metal.
This sounds just like seeing a Drake show at the Roxy - I don't get your problem with him.
Went and saw moon taxi last night. It was a tiny crowd (maaaaybe 200 people) but they were enthusiastic and energetic. Most seemed familiar with the band, even if only the newer hits (morocco got a big cheer/sing along). The band played one of the best shows I've seen. opened with mercury>all the rage, and played 'em pretty standard. then they played fool's gold and dedicated it to one of their long time friends who was in the crowd. this is where they really turned it up and brought out the jam. Other highlights were a midsong segue into blinded by the light (the manfred mann version), a Southern Trance dedicated "to all the southerners out there" that evolved into an extended trancy-breakdown jam ala umphrey's. They threw in a true-to-form cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the World, and closed with a couple of burners that really got the crowd going. They came back for an encore and launched into RATM Wake Up, which sent the crowd absolutely nuts. I was next to a middle aged lady who was headbanging like mad. They followed it up with Killing in the Name, which just amped the crowd up even more. I was hoping for People of the Sun second set at this point, which would have been gerat. The guy singing/rapping nailed De La Rocha's intensity and ability. It was much better than I would have imagined moon taxi covering RATM would be by a long shot. Overall the show was great, there was lots of interaction with the small crowd and the band seemed appreciative of their reception. They played almost an hour and a half, but easily could have kept going. The energy levels after the RATM covers got the crowd amped, and no one was ready for it to be over. Having seen them 3 or 4 times before this, I kinda knew what I was getting into, but it exceeded my expectations. I brought a buddy with me who had never heard them and he was blown away.

A few shows I've seen in the last month:
Washed Out: I'd hoped to see them (him) at Bonnaroo, but conflicts didn't allow. How nice of them (him) to come play in my town. I had heard they (him) weren't very good live, but I thought it was a good show. A bit more energy than their studio sound as well. All I Know is one of my favorite songs from 2013 (judge away), and was glad to hear it live.
St. Vincent-Great live show. Had seen her with David Byrne, but hadn't seen a St. Vincent show. I wasn't blown away as I'd hoped, but still thought it was a very fun show.
Matthew E. White-Opened for St. Vincent. He didn't have a backing band with him, which hurt the set a bit. I'd like to see him again with a band.
Moon Taxi- As others recently mentioned, an underrated and underappreciated band. My third time seeing this band, and they've been better each time. Sadly there were only a few hundred at this show.
Bright Light Social Hour-Opened for Moon Taxi, and they were great. I need to listen to more of them, but I have a feeling their studio sound doesn't do their live show justice.
Saw the following at a one-day festival in Tampa:
Benjamin Booker- Great energy. My friend described him as "Gary Clark Jr. Jr.".
Wild Cub- Good show. I'd see them again. Best part of the show was when the MC (who was not visible) introduced the band in a very deep voice, and the lead singer came on stage and said "uhhh, Thanks God for that introduction".
Bombay Bicycle Club- Really enjoy this band. Wish they'd had longer than a 30 minute set.
Tokyo Police Club- I'm not very familiar with this band, but I enjoyed their set.
Bleachers-My expectations for this show were very low. I saw their performance on Jimmy Kimmel, and thought they sounded terrible. I was pleasantly surprised with their set. Just good ol' fun indie-pop that the 20-25 year old whippersnappers eat up. I won't be surprised to see them playing Thursday night or in a day-time tent slot next year at Bonnaroo.
The Hold Steady-They sounded good, but the sun was directly behind the stage and really hindered the show. I like their sound, but need to listen to more of them.
City and Colour-Every song sounded the same, and literally put me to sleep. Made for great background music while taking a nap.
Manchester Orchestra- Perfect sunset show (same stage as The Hold Steady, but the sun was setting which made it much more pleasant) Didn't play the song I was hoping to hear, but still one of my favorite shows of the day.
Julian Casablancas and the Voidz- I'd always heard Julian likes to enjoy a few adult beverages before taking the stage. This was no exception. The only song I really enjoyed from the set was Human Sadness. I respect Julian for experimenting, but it doesn't necessarily make it good. The best part of his band is his guitarist that looked and dressed identical to Pierre Billon from the La Bamba Triste music video (look it up. It's worth it).
Cage the Elephant- Great energy, great show. Second time seeing them, and it was pretty much the same show. But still quite fun.
-Jungle- Enjoyed more than I thought. I'm hoping that the next album has longer songs or they extend some songs live because everything blended together after a half hour.
-Warpaint- One of the better shows I've seen recently. They were better at Lolla this year but I certainly wasn't disappointed. They're just really fucking cool.
-SBTRKT- I didn't get his setlist ordering and why certain songs were played. It was nice to see his new light set up but I wasn't blown away.
-Flying Lotus- Stage set up was great. I didn't like You're Dead as much as his other albums but it was an experience. Thundercat was a disaster.
-alt-J- stage presence is very boring but at least they have some lights and screens behind them. Couldn't have been a lamer crowd and band seemed dead. It was a below average show but it was also what I was expecting.

Some shows I've been to lately:
Julian Casablancas + The Voidz- I don't know what it was about this show, but I loved it. All of the music off of his new album is mostly unlistenable nonsense, and he seemed to know it on stage. It was at a festival with a lot of bubblegum indie pop acts so a lot of the people got up out of their seats and left in digust during Julian's set. It was all pretty hilarious, and Julian seemed to know that too. He would make snide comments like "the next one is one your grandparents would love" then proceed to play some stupid experimental shit. I'm probably a little biased because Julian is my favorite artist of all time and I was just so happy that I was finally seeing him in some form. There was also a giant mosh pit for some reason, I didn't complain, it was great.
Cymbals Eat Guitars- Saw them open for Brand New. They were way better than Brand New. Met them after the show and they were all really cool guys.
Mineral- Easily the second best show I've been to this year. (Behind Neutral Milk Hotel) I've really been into 90's Emo and the emo-revival the past few months so I was really fucking stoked to see them. They opened with the first three tracks on The Power of Failing, and they were on fire. Absolutely crushed it
-SBTRKT- I didn't get his setlist ordering and why certain songs were played. It was nice to see his new light set up but I wasn't blown away.
I kinda thought the same thing for SBTRKT, but I still really enjoyed myself. His setlist was definitely set up weird though, and that's coming from someone who was far less than sober.
You guys should go see Meatbodies. Stops in Nashville, New Orleans, and Austin for the next few nights. They are like a Ty Segall/Fuzz/Running/Thee Oh Sees hybrid and will rock your face off.

Capital Cities and Cherub were great last night. When Cherub finished I went out to smoke and several people were saying how it felt like that was the band they came to see because they were so high energy. I agree, they should've been given way more time than just a 30 minute or so opening slot. Anyways, it was a good, cheesy, dancing fun. Soooooo much dancing fun.

Agree. They were just here with Purling Hiss.
Purling Hiss were great, too. I've been wanting to see them for quite a while. Although, I was a little disappointed that the main dude wasn't a dirty, long haired, barefoot hippie that I always imagined him to be.
Mule last night...holy shit. Warren had a huge smile on his face the entire show. Crowd was so into it. Got "Don't Step on the Grass Sam" complete with signs. That encore - wow

In the past week I have seen govt mule on Halloween, particle and freekbass on Wednesday, and last night, the cherry on top, Primus! Its been a great week. Mules Halloween set was crazy, the second set consisted of 27 Neil young covers and they ended the night with Cortez the killer!
Particle was a fun dance party, only about 50 people in the whole place but everyone was gettin down.
Then last night I was 4th row for Primus! Third time I have seen them and hands down this was the best show yet. The chocolate factory material was excellent! The stage setup was great, the set list was great, crowd was great. Primus sucks!

I was at the Primus show too. Loved the visuals during the chocolate factory stuff.
Caught the Chris Robinson Brotherhood finally last week and they were great! Wish I hadn't been sick as a dog their second night in town where they played a lot of my favorite songs.
Everything about this Primus your is amazing: the posters, candy bars, setlist, stage show for wonka.... I just saw the Orlando show a couple days and it is arguably my favorite no festival show I've ever seen.
Anyone who misses this Primus tour is going to regret it for the rest of their lives. Love them or hate them, anyone that sees this shit will tell you that they are taking the live concert experience to a new level. The ATL show was absolutely amazing. I bought the signed version of that poster and am going to get it professionally framed. Normally I just buy a $20 frame, but this is the most beautiful poster I own. That picture does not do it justice. I am fucking pumped to see those 3 men of extreme power again in Biloxi this friday.

Saw Primus last Friday (obviously great)
Saw Hannibal Buress in a tiny club in Louisville last night and it was amazing. For about five minutes I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath. If you get the chance to see him, take it.
