He was really good and the whole venue/experience was really neat. It was cool to see him so excited to be there.
A lot of 22, A Million goes over well live, but my favorites he played were from his self titled. All in all great experience. Excited to see how he adapts to his headline performances.
I was there too! And it was a great show, one of the best I've seen this year. Marijuana Deathsquads' set was amazing as well.
I was at that Bon Iver show. I thought it was just ok, definitely not better than the Radio City run in 2014
But then again, i'm lukewarm on the new album
That venue would have been a lot cooler with less people. It was packed. I luckily managed to snake my way to a decent spot after the opener though.
It was mostly the new album so I can see why you didnt have that good of a time. I love the new album. 10deathbreast was an awesome opening. It all sounded great.
not that it needs to be said, but don't miss run the jewels when they are near you. i saw them my first non-festival show of theirs last night and wow. they sounded incredible, had ridiculous energy and the crowd was insane the entire night. the new songs were great live, only the second time they've performed some of them. i wish that i had bought tickets for cleveland, because i'd go see the show again tonight.
Beach Slang as "Quiet" Slang last Sunday. Got the chance to hang out with James for a fair bit of the show before he went on. Stand up guy who can reach into your chest and punch your heart in the kindest way. It was just him and his electric guitar, and it was amazing. Also i bought way too much merch. Including a cassette tape mixtape of 5 incredible covers, including my favorite Dramarama. Ugh. It was too good. Also my last official show at The Masquerade. Fortunately I had shed all my tears at the Wrecking Ball fest, so it was a great send off.
My most likely last Masquerade show was Tuesday with Preoccupations. Small possibility I see Black Lips there tomorrow. My buddy said that after Wrecking Ball, it has been like returning to party after you said bye to everybody yo get your keys.
Also, do you live in East Atlanta? I think I saw you on Nextdoor.
Yup, Im in EAV now. City of Dec was fun while it lasted, but no one can live in a condo forever. Sold it and bought a house. I have TWO toilets! If you saw me on Nextdoor, where are you now??

I'm going to go ahead and forfeit whatever cool points I may have left with this statement: This was one of the best shows I've seen this decade so far. My first time attending a show at the Fox Theater, I was taken aback by the decor, accommodating lay out, and especially the acoustics of this place. Bar none, some of the best acoustics I've witnessed, for certain. Only thing that blew my mind in a negative way was that the venue had completely sold out of BEER before Henley even took the stage... also, the concession stands were horribly managed and run. But none of that matters... this is what matters:
As most are aware, the Falcons had just earned their way into the Superbowl earlier in the day, so I was in the middle of a very happy and vocal crowd. This was a definite plus when it came to reception of the concert. Starting things off in an appropriate tone, JD and The Straight Shot, an Americana/folk act whose front man is a billionaire CEO of Cablevision and Executive Chairman of Madison Square Garden Company. So yeah, the guy has money, and as such obviously hired some real talent for his band, specifically his fiddle player and his upright bassist. I thought the show was perfectly fine, but many didn't appreciate it as much as I did... first off, the lead guy is not a great singer, like at all. It's obvious that he's doing this just because it's a passion of his, and I appreciate that he's giving his talented band work with probably better pay than they'd get for more respected mid level acts of the type. I have a theory that the guy is sort of a money mark, who makes friends with various artists and goes on tour with them to help with tour costs and the like. Just conjecture, but that's what I'm liking to tell myself right now. Because he sure as shit wouldn't be opening for Henley if he wasn't a billionaire. That said, there were enough great moments involving the fantastic fiddle player to satisfy me as an appetizer.
Before Henley came out, spotlights were put on various old radios hanging from the stage, with each playing clips of famous speeches and era defining songs up until the late 70s, starting with early 50s. It was a neat intro gimmick that really pumped up the crowd, though I don't see the relevance to the setlist that would follow. The set opened with a chill-inducing rendition of "Seven Bridges Road", and from that moment it was clear that he had some serious vocal talent on stage to back him up. Next was Henley's ever-relevant solo hit "Dirty Laundry", and it got the whole place moving and chanting along. In between certain cuts Don Henley would give a little story for the upcoming song, and it was always a treat to hear him waxing nostalgic about where the meaning of these songs come from. "That Old Flame" was up next with one of his three back up lady singers doing Martina McBride's part, and it was done well enough, but she was the least impressive of the three vocally, as would become clear later in the set. "Sunset Grill" followed, and while never one of my favorite songs of his, the live instrumentation took this to another level with the inclusion of a solid brass quartet. The next of three tracks from his newest release was "When I Stop Dreaming", an old Louvin Brothers cut, with one of the other back up singers doing Dolly Parton's part to exceptional effect. As of this writing, setlist.fm hasn't been updated for this show, but Henley and crew decided to perform a special one off song, due to the wet weather in Atlanta that day... this was a fantastic cover of Tony Joe White's "Rainy Night in Georgia". Great, great stuff. The first Eagles song of the night, "One Of These Nights", really got the crowd rocking and showed that Don can handle the old vocal stuff extremely well. The great, moody, and atmospheric "New York Minute" followed and really blew me away, one of the better performances of the night for a song I often forget. Next was the surprise hit of the night, "Shang Ri La"... complete with another appearance from his great brass quartet, this was just a tremendous musical performance and once again got the crowd moving. Following this was a seemingly oddball pick, "Don't Matter To The Sun", a song put out by Garth Brooks in the late 90s under his infamous "Chris Gaines" alias... this song is absolutely gorgeous, and the performance was excellent all around topped off with top notch vocal work from all involved. Gonna have to look more into the original, as I figured the Chris Gaines thing was a total bust, commercially and critically. "The End Of The Innocence" was up next, one of my favorite of all of his singles, this was a stirring performance that had the whole crowd singing along, and I saw quite a few tears from where I sat.
Here is where the show really kicks into next level territory. Fan favorite Eagles track "The Last Resort" was one of the best single song performances I've seen in years and years... an epic, perfectly performed cut, there was a moment near in the later half where the song dies down a little bit, except for the synthesizer, violin, and steel guitar. The 10-15 seconds of this little moment were among the most magical sounding parts of a concert I've ever been a part of, really hard to put into words, but it was something truly special and sounded to have come straight from the heavens. I hardly have the words to express the love I had for this performance, but it was one of the very best of the whole set. "The Heart of The Matter" was another stand out performance of the night, one of his best songs all around, it was done immaculate justice in live form tonight with, again, everyone singing along. To follow was what I consider the 1-2 knockout of the night... a poignant cover of Tears For Fears' "Everybody Wants To Rule The World", this was just a phenomenal performance. The crowd loved it, the instrumental performance was perfect, and Henley really sounded top notch on this. From one of the best pop hits of the 80s to another... "Boys of Summer". By far, my favorite of all his singles and maybe my favorite single of the 80s, period, this was done so much justice and everyone loved it, as was becoming the norm this late in the show. Just a sublime stretch of music, there, and a perfect point to end the main set. The first encore began with "Life In The Fastlane"... again, not a motionless body to be seen, and this was a great, rocking performance of one of Eagles' most beloved singles. To the surprise of no one, the next cut was probably the singular highlight of the show, "Hotel California". Down to the perfect dueling guitar solos at the end, this was all anyone could have possibly hoped for in one of the most important rock tracks of all time. This ended the first encore and everyone was reeling from what they had just seen, still singing the chorus to the last song. The final encore starts with Henley addressing the passing of Glen Frey and stating the last two songs were songs the two of them wrote together... some dipshit yells out "Take It Easy"... Jackson Browne fans would like a word or two with you. "Wasted Time" started it off, and though not one of my favorite Eagles songs, it was a truly great performance with the contra-alto back up singer alternating verses with Don... her performance here was standout. Finally, "Desperado", nuff said. LOUD singing from everyone in the crowd.
The crowd went home happy, there were no duds in the setlist, the sound was perfect, all the performances were on point or even better, and I don't regret a penny of my $100s spent on a ticket. A+, *****, 10/10, whatever... I hadn't seen a concert this great since Prince in 2011.

Just saw them last night in Miami Beach. What a fucking show. It was my first time seeing them at their own headlining show too, and it was easily my favorite experience out of the 3 times I've seen them.
Honestly, it's taken me a while to warm up to the new album. I like it, but I haven't been as enamored with it as RTJ2. Last night might have changed my feelings. The RTJ3 tracks were my favorite parts of the show, I was so happy with how well they translated live. Crowd was absolutely insane, and Killer Mike and El-P were both ecstatic about having the #1 Rap album in the country. Gonna listen to RTJ3 all day now.

Nice. Are you going to Rolling Loud?
I'm not sure. I'm a little wary for two reasons:
1) Doesn't Rolling Loud have a bad reputation for their events? I remember reading some Miami New Times articles about their poor organization and not paying some of the lower billed performers, and that was just for their small scale shows in Wynwood. I went to the Young Thug iii Points show which was supposedly partly produced by Rolling Loud's team and that went fine, so maybe it's nothing to worry about. 2) I dread the crowd this is going to attract.
It is a pretty intriguing lineup though. But $200 is bit too steep for me to commit. I'm already seeing Kendrick at Coachella (and just saw him at his Art Basel show) and I've seen a lot of these artists within the past year. ASAP Rocky is the one that intrigues me the most. I think I'm going to wait and see if I can catch him and some other good artists with a single day ticket, assuming they'll sell them.
*EDIT: Re reading my own comment I cringed a little at my #2 reason. My point about dreading the crowd this would attract was in no way racially charged, I was referring to the hype beasts and high schoolers a lineup like this would inevitably attract.
I've read a little about their not golden reputation, and the lineup is mixed for me. But there's definitely a lot to like (Lil Wayne, Rocky, Bronson, Kendrick, Gates), a lot to hate (Yachty, Post Malone), some that you never know but will probably be good shows (Future, Mac Miller, Tyler), and lots of auto-tuning (Travis Scott, Thug, and Future again).
I'd probably try to cop a day pass if I lived down there and if there was any one particular day that had elevated talent. But yeah, it'll definitely be a sausage fest and probably feature some crowd fights and mayhem.
If you're considering seeing Angel Olsen and she's coming near you, DO IT. She was excellent last night and her band sounded amazing. Woman and Intern during the encore really blew me away but the entire show was great. Very glad I made the drive to Athens to see her.

just drove 2 and a half hours to Birmingham, so I am glad to hear this haha
Yup Angel Olsen's show was fantastic! Also it was my first time at- the Saturn venue and it has a very cool atmosphere. It is also a coffee shop by day then a club/bar at night, so right after the show you can have some more fun.

I know this tour is almost over but if you're in chicago or whatever I'm going to second this and say you should probably grab a ticket to this. gangsta boo and gaslamp killer were fun as hell too, and cuz surprised me with how good he was. Nick Hook was whatever but that's a small price to pay for a phenomenal headliner and three good support acts.

Was at that show as well. Was a casual fan until I witnessed them live. Wow wow wow, just fantastic.

I'm hoping for single day passes and the stars aligning for RTJ and Kendrick Lamar to be on the same day. Then I will definitely be there for the day.
Oh my God, Matthew Dear was so good. tЯist♡n, you should absolutely go see him tonight in Denver. He played a 3 1/2 hour set that had me dancing the whole time. You won't regret seeing him.
I don't think he played any Matthew Dear songs, but I think I recognized a little bit of Audion in there. It was a techno heavy set with some house thrown in there.

I'm working a double but I'm hoping I'll get off early enough to go straight there from work.
Vince Staples was #hype. Definitely see him if he comes to your city. I didn't see Kilo Kush though, got there too late. She didn't come out for any of the songs she's featured on, I thought that was kind of weird.
The Black Madonna was also a fun time as always. Sad I won't get to see her for a minute.
The following night in atlanta was similarly spectacular. When the main set ended I couldn't believe it was already time for an intermission. I expected a couple intermissions were still to come and they did but simply can't get enough because the nearly 2 1/2 hour 25 song set just blew by. Did leave feeling euphoric and that feeling sticks with me now as I am thinking back to it.
