I'm alone. By myself today. Thanksgiving. I LOVE IT.
Now I know some of you folks will think that's kinda depressing BUT I'm here to tell you you would be really wrong about that! For me, sitting here all by myself is wondrous. I NEVER get to do this. There is always somebody in my face and in my space and I swear to god it never ends. BUT TODAY everybody is somewhere else. They're spending time with loved ones who don't get to see them as much as I do.
I made some phone calls and my family is a horror story but we all still love one another and we're thinking of each other today. That's how we are. I love each one of them SO much but thank God were not stuck in a small room with each other.
I suspect some of y'all will think this is depressing but TRUST ME IT'S NOT
YAY for my solo thanksgiving. I'm a thankful motherfucker for this and much more.
YAY for getting engaged to the kindest, most intelligent and amazing man I've ever known. here's to our next big adventure G, it's going to be awesome! and all the credit goes to custeph for playing matchmaker! she told me to go for it, I told her she was crazy, but then I did anyway and it's been the best decision I ever made.

Major, major congratulations to both of you, G & o'neil! So happy for you two.
On a more muted note, it's been a hell of a good couple days for music. The night before last, I saw one of my top shows of the year; then last night, I snagged tickets for what will almost certainly be my last show of the year - De La Soul on the 28th.
Then my Big Day Out ticket got delivered about half an hour ago. And when I came back upstairs and checked Facebook, I saw the Rolling Stones had just announced a tour, playing in town the night after my birthday. Awww yissss. Happy birthday to me!
Plus, if pre-sale prices are any indication, tickets won't be nearly as steep as I'd anticipated - so now the only question is, to Hanging Rock, or not to Hanging Rock? I think to Hanging Rock... don't you?

Do that sh*t! Looks amazing.
I'm thinking I pretty much have to. I mean, it's a choice between that or a generic stadium at Olympic Park. Plus flights to Melbourne are always dirt cheap and I have an open invite to my cousin's sofa. I'll have to rent a car, but that's no biggie.
Welllp, looks like I'm not doing anything for the next few weeks. It's been real, plans.

Yesterday was pretty solid. Finished the most difficult of the papers I have left to write this week. Plus Animal Collective was super rad. Brian DeGraw opened (which I didn't expect) and it was awesome, now I just need to see all of Gang Gang Dance.
I just had a parent/teacher conference for my little first grader. It's been a tough year for my kiddos with the divorce and leaving their home and changing schools. The teacher had nothing but great things to say about him and I was so happy (and maybe surprised) that I cried right there in that tiny little kid chair.
Guys guys guys guys... I'm officially done with college!
Congratulations! I've been out of college for 8.5 years but I still have nightmares that I won't be graduating. Like, I've signed up for a class but didn't realize it so I never went.

I have had that exact same nightmare.
Congrats on graduations and promotions! Very exciting stuff!

Hey all. First post in this thread. Just wanted to share the good news that I got engaged this weekend. That's right, that crotchety old bastard The Horn is capable of love. Bet no one saw that coming.

Yay! I love the image of this. I keep seeing your knees practically in your face and the teacher sitting awkwardly.
