Saturday was plagued by unbearable humidity. Every band before Caribou struggled to get energy levels up due to the sweltering heat. It didn't help Margaret Cho was the most annoying human being at the festival, and they let her have a microphone (and I'm a fan). I hung back under the PBR tent to watch Love Language, Ex Hex, Mikal Cronin, Bob Mould, and Teenage Fan Club, all of which would have benefited from being a Cats Cradle show. Once the sun settled behind the stage, Caribou got most of the crowd thumping. Showcasing Swim and a few unreleased tracks (there may have been a Daphni cut in there too), Caribou quickly took the show of the weekend title...until Neutral Milk came out. I've seen NMH 5 times since their reunion and this was by far the best performance. Jeff seemed animated and kept talking about how much he appreciates Merge. The show was practically a giant sing a long and, for the first time, they sounded tight-not sloppy-as a live band.
Agreed. I found it difficult to enjoy the earlier shows.
First time seeing Caribou. F*cking amazing. Lost my sh*t when they played Sun. Can't Do Without You from their upcoming record was another highlight.
Was surprised to see Jeff and Julian hanging out after their set. Got to speak with them and get my dollar bill signed.

Only made it to Saturday. Ex Hex and Mikal Cronin were great. Couldn't enjoy Bob Mould cause the humidity was getting to me (thank god inside was open.) Really enjoyed Teenage Fanclub. I'd never listened to them before the fest, but I'm a convert now. Especially enjoyed Everything Flows, which they closed with and jammed out. Caribou was easily my favorite set of the day. All kinds of next levelness going on and it was perfect at sunset. Neutral Milk Hotel were killer and it was great to see them outside, at night. Overall, lots of joy packed into one day.

Thanks for posting this. This old man is considering going at least on Sunday. My coworker is encouraging me to call in sick for Friday and Saturday(he wants the overtime) so I might be there the entire time. Sounds like a fun event.

Ya gotta love facebook. Jack White outdoor show tonight and we're expecting some stormy weather, maybe just rain, maybe something severe.
The venue's FB page has been inundated with people just screaming bloody murder that "ITS GONNA RAIN! WHAT DO WE DO????" "WILL THE SHOW BE CANCELLED?" The venue FB staff have responded three times saying "Since this show is SOLD OUT and the indoor set-up cannot hold that many people, we have to keep it outdoors." Nevermind the fact when you buy a ticket to an outdoor show, it says what we all know it says "rain or shine."
So, on and on it goes. I have been thoroughly entertained all day by "Yeah but why can't you just move it indoors?" ITS GUNA RAIN. THE WORLD IS ENDING. JACK SAVE US!I CANT WEAR A PONCHO- IT DOESNT LOOK GOOD WITH MY HEELS!!!!!
Ugh, guys, solid advice to pay attention to: don't put red wine on top of pretty awful Mexican food from a sketchy place by a Wal-Mart. There will be hell to pay.
Otherwise, I had a great night last night! Got to know beebee! Beautiful night for a Lost in the Trees show in a park with kids running around and dancing. A+. Life is good. Just put me back to bed now, please.
it was so nice hanging with you guys! thanks for being so sweet and also saving me from trying the walmart burritos!
