Who are the kings of bonnaroo latenight?

Thread Summary

8 bonnaroos in.... who do you think has dominated the latenight scene at the farm? justify your answer however you wish, i only included artists that have played more than one latenight (to me that shows as of this year which artists are in bonnaroo's eyes most worthy of latenights, but hey if you don't agree i gave you another option :-[ )

part me of wants to answer galactic or sts9 just because theyve played the most bonnaroo latenights, but many of the 2002 attendees say that moe. set the bar that year and some would say it still has not been reached, and after this year's 4 and 1/2 hour party i would have to give them my vote.

MMJ. Actually, just change the question to "Who Are the Kings of Bonnaroo" and the answer is still the same. ;)

NIN took all of the late night sets and mopped the floor with them... some would believe.

But, I'd say My Morning Jacket, honestly.

Historically it would be Galactic. They have brought late night heat one more occasions than anyone else. From Krewe de Carnivale, to the unannounced Chali-2na set last year. I enjoyed the MMJ show last year, but Galactic owned my face, as they had late night every time I have seen them.

I voted MMJ as well. The 06' set alone would be worth that title. add 08' and they own the crown.

(ok i missed the mmj show, and they don't seem to transfer well onto tape)

I think Jess has it right. Galactic has played latenight at half the Bonnaroos so far (02, 05, 07, and 08 -- one's missing in the poll) and they've brought it every time. Their shows have been full of surprises, collaborations, and everything else that has come to define latenight at Roo.

Galactic no question. They rock the house late night no matter what kind of show they are doing.

They are ok, but to me they would be just as good in a day slot as in the latenight. Galactic however is a different band when playing a night time set.

I will almost always vote for the Flaming Lips, nearly regardless of question or other names on the ballot.

MMJ. Hands down.
I have missed some of the other legendary late nights, but I caught moe. and Galactic and STS9, and I'm a bigger fan of those three than MMJ, but those guys just have something unnameable when they play on the farm.
Anyone remember the unplanned Particle show waaaaaaaaay back in the day?

My all-time favorite Late Night was Gov't Mule with a slew of special guests. I vote Nader

IDK if anyone caught the KDTU show in '05. Not necessarily my favorite band that has ever played late night, but those guys brought the heat. The energy level at that show was at 11 the entire time.

That's right, 11...

Flaming Lips 07 was like seeing God.
