Okay, so I've seen Big Lebowski but it's been a while and I still didn't get the reference. Clearly I need to view it again. what particular themes or leitmotifs should I be paying attention to?

Long story short, in the scene where Walter trashes (what he thinks is) that kid Larry's car, he yells out repeatedly "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU F*CK A STRANGER IN THE ASS!" Obviously you can't say that on television, so in the censored broadcasts on AMC and TNT and whatever else, that line is changed to "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FIND A STRANGER IN THE ALPS," which makes no goddanged sense and is hilarious.
OMG they do the same thing to The Usual Suspects and we laugh just use it as a phrase in our house. The scene where they're all lined up and told to read a sentence off a card. In the unedited version the line is “Give me the keys you f*cking peinerpuffer,”
in the broadcast version the line becomes “Give me the keys you Fairy Godmother" We laugh our donkeys off!
