I got this from the library about six weeks ago, and I read 50 pages during my 3 week checkout So, obviously, I couldn't get in to it. I just wasn't feeling it, not sure why, because I love his other stuff! May give it a whirl again in a few months... my book-reading tastes vary based on the mood I'm in.
I got "Swamplandia" again from the library yesterday. I had it a few months ago but, once again, couldn't get in to it so I returned it. I enjoyed Karen Russell's book of short stories, one of which this novel is based on, but I also think it may have biased me. The characters in the novel are changed from the short story characters (just in small ways) and that kind of bummed me out. We'll see how it goes this time around!
