Flaming Lips have done late night three times already - 2003, 2007, 2010. Let's try something different. If they're going to be back, why not have them close out Which Stage one night, or do something weird/unique/vintage Flaming Lips-esque, rather than the same old tired show?
not sure i would call them performing the soft bulletin in its entirety the "same old tired show," they rarely play any more SB than Race for the Prize in their regular sets, but i suppose i understand where youre coming from. i would love to see them get a pre-HL which stage slot, but in that case they would probably not be doing the SB so that would actually be the "same old tired show" that you speak of
Like curate a tent. He did that collaboration this year with a bunch of different artists, I bet he could do an amazing job. Plus he could ramble his ass off between shows and do all sorts of random artsy things. Come out and experiment with different instruments, sounds and other shtuff...
That would be cool - and lose the confetti cannons.
yes, that would be extremely cool. not sure why the hate on the confetti cannons though- i really enjoy the Lips show (in addition to being a huge fan of their music) and hope they keep adding new wrinkles to it
wayne coyne curated tent -> Soft Bulletin LN ^would be the best thing to ever happen on the farm
It's like, if I hand you a sandwich and am all "hey man, have a bit of this delicious ham sandwich," and then you take a bite and hand it back and are all "I'm disappointed, I was hoping for a turkey sandwich," you'd be insane
